Human Rights Festival 2025: The Power of Cultural Rights: Art as a Form of Justice

The Department of Criminology and Social Sciences and the Department of Law join forces to host the Human Rights Festival 2025.

On day 2, we explore human rights through the lens the most marginalised, focusing on minorities, children and women with four distinguished panellists:

  • Joshua Castellino, Executive Director of Minority Rights Group International, Professor of Law at University of Derby.
  • Elisa Iannacone, Journalist and Cinematographer, 2024 Global Peace Photo of the Year winner.
  • Analee Pepper, UN Senior Women's Protection Advisor, overseeing the United Nations joint portfolio on conflict-related sexual violence in Ukraine.
  • Alexandra Xanthaki, United Nations Special Rapporteur on Cultural Rights, Professor of Law at Brunel University.

The event is highly interactive providing ample opportunities for the participants to engage with the panellists as well as other participants to explore the power of arts in protecting, promoting and enhancing human rights.

Booking is essential to attend this event.
