All are welcome to the Psychology Colloquia, where distinguished guest speakers present talks encompassing a diverse array of topics within the field of Psychology and beyond.

This week's speaker is Dr Cornelia McCormick. Dr McCormick explores the relationship between autobiographical memory (AM) and visual-perceptual imagery, with a particular focus on the neural networks underlying these functions. Trained under Professors McAndrews, Moscovitch, and Maguire, her early work highlighted hippocampal interactions with visual cortices during AM (McCormick et al., 2015) and altered hippocampal connectivity in temporal lobe epilepsy (McCormick et al., 2013). At University College London, Dr McCormick contributed to the discovery that the ventromedial prefrontal cortex (vmPFC) initiates hippocampal scene processing (McCormick et al., 2018). In Bonn, Dr McCormick leads the Memory and Imagination group, conducting advanced research using 7T fMRI on memory and imagery deficits in conditions such as dementia, epilepsy, Aphantasia, and blindness. Her work has shown hippocampal subfield contributions to AM and the altered connectivity in Aphantasia. Dr McCormick's research continues to advance our understanding of hippocampal-neocortical interactions, contributing to models of memory and imagery in both healthy individuals and those with neurological disorders.
