Our speaker

We welcome Richard King, Ticker Founder and CEO.

  • Richard's first company was valued over £1 Billion on FTSE 250
  • Ticker is the number 1 motor insurance for young drivers
  • First into the market with black box technology reducing premiums by a half and accidents by a third
  • Owns more fish and chip shops than anyone in the UK, including the Harry Ramsden's brand
  • Come along and find out more about what makes this entrepreneur tick!

Ticker is a next-generation digital motor insurer, leveraging connected car data and data science across every aspect of the business, including pricing, underwriting, customer engagement and claims.

Prior to Ticker, Richard was the founder and CEO of ingenie, one of the first connected motor insurers in the UK, which was acquired for £100m in 2015. He was a seed investor and non-exec of Neos from 2016 to 2019 – the UK's first connected home insurer, which was acquired by Sky TV in 2021.

In the early part of his career, he was co-founder of Innovation Group which developed a motor claims ecosystem, listed on the London market and entered the FTSE 250 with a valuation over £1 billion.

Outside of insurance Richard has held board positions with organisations affiliated to Chelsea FC, including Chairman of Chelsea Pitch Owners, Chairman of the Peter Osgood Trust and Director/Trustee of the Chelsea Players Trust.

He was also a co-founder and seed investor in Deep Blue Restaurants which has grown from start up to be the largest chain of fish and chip shops in the UK including Harry Ramsden's.
