National debates: Nationhood - Ireland and Scotland

Four months after the UK made the momentous decision to leave the EU, it is re-examining its sense of citizenship, belonging and neighbourhood, relating to both geography and community.

Inspired by the recently staged classic and modern drama from Ireland (The Plough and the Stars) and Scotland (Our Ladies of Perpetual Succour), a panel discuss national identity and cultural responses to the idea of nationalism.

With Richard Boyd Barrett (People Before Profit Alliance TD for Dún Laoghaire); David Greig playwright Marina Carr (By the Bog of Cats); playwright (Dunsinane) and Artistic Director of Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh; and Trish Reid of Kingston University (author of Theatre and Scotland).

Chaired by Anne McElvoy, broadcaster and Senior Editor at The Economist.
