Please note these workshops are intended for employees of Kingston University practice partners only and by attending, you are stating you are up to date with your revalidation and active on the register.
The workshop consists of three components and staff can choose which element/s they need to attend if already qualified: All sessions are required if training to be a new Practice Assessor. Please see below which sessions you are required to attend if training to be a new Practice Supervisor.
Pre-reading: As this course is now significantly shorter than the previous mentorship qualification, there is a number of e-learning modules that accompany the online day, as described in the booking. These modules can be found here; https://plplg.uk/e-learning-modules/. If you have not been able to do these prior to the course, do not panic but please ensure they are done afterwards and added to your revalidation.
New Practice assessor: please complete- Understanding students, Roles and responsibilities, Assessing learning needs, Assessing learning in practice, Giving feedback, Coaching skills.
New Practice Supervisor; Please complete- Understanding students, Raising concerns
The university does not need to see these certificates, but your trust, organisation may do.
09.30-11.00 - Overview of NMC Standards for Student Supervision and Assessment (SSSA) and the roles and responsibilities of Practice Assessors and Practice Supervisors
This is the first part of the full day workshop for new Practice Assessors. This element can also be used as an update for existing Practice Assessors and Supervisors.

11.30-13.00 - ePAD Training (electronic Practice Assessment Document)
All BSc and MSc Nursing students use the electronic Practice Assessment Document (ePAD). This offers the chance to familiarise yourself with the system and assessments within it during this session. QR codes at the end of the sessions and will allow you to leave and register for the overall 'award' you are seeking. There will also be will be an opportunity to take a screenshot to evidence your attendance for the existing PA/PS seeking an UPDATE.
13.30-14.30 -The power of feedback: Required for the New Practice Supervisor and Assessor.
QR codes at the end of the sessions and will allow you to leave and register for the overall 'award' you are seeking. At the end of this session there will be an opportunity to take a screenshot to evidence your attendance
14.30-17.00 - Conclusion for New Practice Assessor Training
This session will continue on from the morning workshops and will provide an opportunity for Registered Nurses with no previous mentorship/assessor qualification to become certified Practice Assessors. It is required that you will have worked as a Practice Supervisor already before undertaking the Practice Assessor role. It is vital that you check your eligibility to be a Practice Assessor with your employer/lead educator and ensure they support your attendance/training.
The entire days' attendance is required to be new PA (even if it's not all completed at once) to earn the certification; and relevant e-Learning detailed in the event page must be completed before any of the session starts.

You must then present yourself to your lead/educator lead in order to be supported in the new role. You may also be asked to document your name in the chat at intervals in order to ascertain attendance.

Bookings made from personal email addresses or from staff not supporting Kingston University students will be cancelled (if in doubt, please speak to your education lead, as above, to see whether you are eligible).
