Almost 5,000 graduates are gearing up to celebrate their academic achievements at the home of rugby as the first Kingston University graduation ceremonies in more than two years kick off this week at Twickenham Stadium. The undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD students are the first in Kingston's history to have their graduation ceremonies at the venue, and will collect their awards in a suite next door to one of the most famous rugby pitches in the world, after the University decided it wanted to honour students who have had their graduations delayed in a special one-off celebration at Twickenham.

Kingston University social care students develop skills to support people with dementia

Kingston University has launched a project to give health and social care students the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge by supporting people living with dementia. The Special Interest Group (SIG) is being led by senior lecturer in social work Maria Brent and aims to raise awareness of dementia and provide students with volunteering opportunities in the local community, which will benefit them both professionally and personally, as well as supporting those living with dementia and their families and carers.

Leading speech and language therapy expert at Kingston University and St George's, University of London receives national recognition for Covid-19 work and spinal cord injury research

One of the country's leading speech and language therapy experts, based at Kingston University and St George's, University of London, has received awards from two national organisations for her key work in spinal cord injury research and in the battle against Covid-19. Dr Jackie McRae, Associate Professor and Director of Research in the Centre for Allied Health at Kingston and St George's, has been given the Giving Voice award by the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) for her work promoting speech and language therapy for Covid-19 patients, and the Spinal Research Institute's Spinal Cord Injury Research Writing prize for her article on work to overcome swallowing and communication issues in spinal cord injury patients.
